Those who recognize China’s unprecedented success in both pandemic control and poverty alleviation must also recognize its causal relationship to China’s overall Party leadership, and a strong, command-down, Party-led government.
The CPC prides itself on staying close to the people, being part of the people, having its deep roots in the mass of the people and implementing strategies and policies that are ‘people-centered’.
Now China barely trails the world’s largest economy and plays a lead role in development of culture, science and technology, agriculture, renewable energy, and space exploration.
Based on China’s own characteristics and socio-cultural historical aspect, CPC has built innovative and productive party system and leadership mechanism.
Foreign critics suggest that party members join out of self-interest to be part of a powerful elite. But it is party members who are first responders at times of crises be it Covid-19, an earthquake, or poverty alleviation.
The cooperation between the two governments and the friendship of the two peoples will continue to strengthen over time.
China is making important contributions towards a new international order which, to my mind, represents a historic advance for the human society, while being poised to deepen and lead social, ecological, and economic transformations on the basis of scientific development.
How has this revitalization been accomplished in less than 100 years? As an outsider, and a person fascinated by history, I attempt here to answer that question.
There is no single model of democracy, which can meet the needs of every society. Every model has its own merits and demerits. Thus, there is no need to insist on the supremacy of any model over the others.
