As part of a recent promotional campaign for the Pinault Printemps Redoute mall in Shanghai, shoppers on the fifth floor will be able to skip the elevator–or heaven forbid, the stairs!–come March 15 and zip on down to the ground floor via a winding slide that takes around 16 seconds to reach the bottom. Hmm. Many netizens in China have expressed concerns regarding the safety standards of China’s mall operators after a spate of collapsed escalators and elevators.
