The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) announced in early September that virtual currencies such as Bitcoin were suspected of supporting criminal activities such as illegal fund-raising, financial fraud and pyramid schemes, and implemented an immediate halt to their use. On Sept. 8, China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba Group celebrated its 18th anniversary in Hangzhou, capital of east China’s Zhejiang Province.
Around 40,000 Alibaba employees from dozens of countries and regions attended the party. Employees and executives enjoyed the event together. Jack Ma, Chairman of Alibaba, even performed a classic Michael Jackson dance together with some of the other business partners.
The sixth nuclear test conducted by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) took place several days ago. Strong repercussions across the international community are still on the rise.
On Sept. 3, the DPRK Sunday detonated a hydrogen bomb that could be carried by an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
The test, which has been widely denounced, has further aggravated the sensitive and complicated confrontation on the Korean Peninsula.
The leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa met in China coast city Xiamen early September.
The summit of the BRICS nations brings together five major new emerging economies, who are seeking a greater say in world affairs.
