The CPC Charts Out the Future Progress for the Party
The session reminds the CPC of its missions and goals to be accomplished. Every member of the Party should remember why the Party was established at the beginning and what goals it is striving for.
The sixth plenary session of the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee was held last week where a landmark resolution was adopted especially on the achievements and historical contributions of the Communist Party over the past 100 years. President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, addressed the session which was attended by the 197 members and 151 alternate members of the CPC Central Committee.
Happening at the historical juncture, the session discussed the report about the overall achievements and function of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee presented by Xi Jingping. Several other important resolutions, discussion and decisions were made including holding the 20th National Congress of the CPC in the second half of 2022 in Beijing. The overall approach was to review the past and build the future with renewed energy and a steady approach for growth.
The meetings of the CPC Central Committee over the years have played a significant leading role in China’s politics and development. These sessions have brought much-needed vicissitudes in directing China’s destiny. Since the founding of the CPC, the Party has remained a source of strength for rejuvenation and cementing togetherness. The sixth plenary session has offered outsiders an assessment of the CPC’s historical contribution to China.
By adapting the basic tenets of Marxism-Leninism to China’s specific realities, Chairman Mao Zedong led the CPC and the Chinese nation to their own way of securing victory in the new democratic revolution. China was transformed from a poor country to one of the largest economies in the world and the CPC has remained at the core of the great progress.
In this session, the 30,000-plus-character Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century, is the third of its kind in the Party’s 100-year history: the first in 1945 before the victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and the second in 1981 with the advent of the reform and opening-up drive. The latest resolution connects the past, present, and future. With the landmark resolution that makes a summary of the Party’s experience in the past, the CPC leadership is looking to the future. The CPC has realized the emerging complexities of international environment and domestic challenges.
With the leadership of Chairman Mao, China was ushered into a period of socialist construction. With the policy of reform and opening-up was adopted at the third plenary session of the 11th Central Committee led by Deng Xiaoping, socialism with Chinese characteristics was successfully founded.
At the fourth plenary session of the 13 Central Committee, Jiang Zemin further enhanced socialism through the Theory of Three Represents. The world has witnessed an evolution of the unique socialist ideology having strong Chinese characteristics. After the fourth plenary session of the 13th Central Committee, Jiang Zemin enhanced Socialism with Chinese characteristics by forming the Theory of Three Represents and leading it into the 21st century. After the 16th National Party Congress, Hu Jintao further advanced practical, theoretical, and institutional innovation during the process of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and formed the Scientific Outlook on Development. They succeeded in upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics under new circumstances.
Following the Party’s 18th National Congress, socialism with Chinese characteristics entered a new era under the leadership of Xi Jinping. Chinese communists, with Comrade Xi Jinping as their chief representative, have significantly established Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. This is the latest breakthrough in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context especially in face of the 21st-century challenges. It has brought new vigor to the national and cultural ethos of China. Xi Jinping has contributed to leading the Party in dealing with all kinds of contemporary challenges.
As a result of the united CPC leadership, it has been possible for the Party to develop and grow stronger constantly. The CPC also continues its adaption and adjustment in a changing world which helps improve the Party in leading the country.
